Glutathione is a small peptide made of three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. The glutamate is linked through its side chain, and the cysteine carries a thiol group that can give up electrons.
It has been studied in in-vitro studies of antioxidant defense, detoxification enzymes, and redox signaling. It has also been investigated in rodent models of oxidative stress.
